At Data Strategies 4 Change we translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for social-change organisations across Europe. Here’s a snapshot of our work:

2025 Einfach Einsteigen

  • Conducting virtual focus groups to evaluate campaign arguments for a citizens’ referendum in Bremen on introducing fare-free public transport. Multiple AI models engage in simulated discussions, providing faster and more cost-effective feedback than traditional focus groups.

2024 – 2025 Beyond Fossil Fuels

  • Developing metrics to measure how far European electricity grids are in their journey toward decarbonisation:
    • Calculating time-series indicators—including renewable and fossil electricity generation & capacity, price volatility, electricity demand, and CO₂ emissions—for more than 40 European countries and country groups.
    • Powering a set of 40+ dashboards with the resulting datasets.

2023 – ongoing LobbyControl

  • Maintaining a daily-updated dashboard that
    • estimates current fundraising performance against plan, and
    • evaluates all email and paper mailings.
  • Automatically generating the data and graph section of the annual fundraising report.

2024 European Climate Foundation

  • Analysing and visualising opinion polls.
  • Calculating correlations and producing maps that show the relationship between voting decisions and renewable-energy use.

2024 Climate Action Network

  • Drafting a multi-year strategy for climate-friendly buildings policy in Europe.

2023 – ongoing Aktion Agrar

  • Providing a live fundraising dashboard.

2019 – ongoing Investigate Europe

  • During Oliver’s time at Investigate Europe:
    • Aggregated data and built interactive maps for investigations (e.g. gas investments in Europe and the Energy Charter Treaty), quantifying that €344.6 billion in fossil infrastructure is shielded by the treaty.
  • Ongoing: Maintaining a dashboard that tracks publication reach and newsletter growth.

2018 – ongoing Digitalcourage

  • Generating a daily dashboard for fundraising, social-media (e.g. Mastodon) and newsletter metrics using CiviCRM data.

2022, 2025 Wikimedia Deutschland

  • During Oliver’s time at Wikimedia:
    • Analysed 230 million edits to create new KPIs—“Editors with Voting Rights” and “Recurring Editors”—and deployed a live dashboard for contributor retention.
    • Automated monthly finance reporting using R and R Markdown.
  • Currently: analysing fundraising data (9.1 million donations totalling more than €200 million) to explore a machine-learning model for mailing-recipient selection.
